Module 5 - Course Info

 

Video Summary

  • After creating a course, additional settings appear within the course view

  • Main tabs include:

    • General

    • Transcripts

    • Standards (if using standards-based grading)

  • General tab:

    • Edit previously entered course details

    • Assign one or multiple academic levels

    • Set credits (important for GPA calculations):

      • Typically 1 credit = full-year course

      • 0.5 credit = half-year course

    • Add/Edit Course Options 

    • Add/edit course description

    • Option to archive the course

    • Choose whether to include in progress reports

  • Transcripts tab:

    • Control whether the course appears on transcripts

    • Set whether it affects GPA (can exclude courses like PE or clubs)

    • Define a custom transcript name

    • Option to include courses taken before high school (e.g., Algebra, foreign language)

    • Separate control over whether those early courses impact GPA

  • Standards tab:

    • Used for standards-based grading (covered separately)

  • Sections (mentioned but not covered here) will be addressed next
