Module 8 - Notifications and User Profiles

 

Video Summary

  • Notifications are sent directly to users’ email addresses, not the ClassReach Messages inbox

  • Notifications can include:

    • Announcements

    • Documents

    • Messages

    • Discussions

    • Calendar events

    • Grades/assignments

    • Attendance

    • Financial items

    • Forms

  • Notifications also appear on the user homepage/dashboard

  • “Items Requiring Attention” stay visible until acted on

  • Notifications use icons/colors to identify categories:

    • Green = financial

    • Purple = forms

    • Other icons represent messages, attendance, grades, etc.

  • Users can:

    • Filter notifications by type

    • Open related items directly

    • Clear non-important notifications

  • Email notification options:

    • Individual notifications:

      • Separate email for every triggering event

    • Daily summary notifications:

      • Combines all activity into scheduled summary emails

      • Default is one daily summary around 5 AM local time

  • Summary emails only send when triggering activity occurs

  • Examples of triggering events:

    • Homework posted

    • Grades entered

    • Attendance marked

    • Messages sent

    • Calendar events added

    • Financial activity

  • Users can customize notification settings in their profile:

    • Choose individual vs summary emails

    • Add multiple summary times per day

    • Disable summaries entirely

    • Enable/disable separate message email notifications

  • Parents can manage notification settings for student accounts without emails

  • Knowledge base articles explain:

    • Notification behavior

    • Triggering events

    • How to reduce notification volume
